Pre-Operative Care:
Conducted comprehensive patient evaluations, including risk assessment, diagnostic interpretation (ECG, 2D Echo, TOE, CT, cardiac MRI), and optimisation of comorbidities.
Post-Operative and Critical Care Expertise:
Monitoring patients in HDU /post-op wards, managing complications (ventilator settings, arrhythmia, infections, cardiac tamponade, pleural effusion & chest tube management, inotropic support), and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams for early mobilisation protocols and recovery plans.
Surgical Assistance/Manual Dexterity:
Exceptional ability to perform and first assist 1200+ intricate cardiac surgical procedures with precision, including MIDCAB, off-pump and on-pump CABG, adult congenital cardiac surgeries, valve surgeries, OZAKI AV reconstruction and OZAKI combined Bentall procedure, heart transplant, and other minimal access cardiac surgeries. Expertise in 430+ bronchoscopy and 110+ thoracoscopy procedures. Hands-on training on TAVI and MitraClip procedures in Japan and the OZAKI procedure in India. Trained to perform EBUS procedures (30 cases) and ECMO management. Performed 850+ invasive procedures (central line placement, chest tube insertion, peripheral arterial/venous cannulation, emergency intubation). Able to operate heart-lung machines during bypass procedures.

Emergency Medicine Capabilities:
As an emergency department medical officer at Asiri Hospital Kandy (ACHS-accredited, ACSQHC Standards), competent in managing high-acuity cases with proficiency in triage (ATS), resuscitation, multisystem emergencies and handing over protocol (ISBAR), aligning with Australasian standards. Skilled in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS®) and Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS®), lead trauma responses (fractures, dislocations, hemorrhagic shock) and acute cardiac/neurological emergencies (STEMI, acute stroke, severe sepsis). My procedural expertise includes emergency intubation, video laryngoscopy, central venous access, FAST/eFAST scan and ECG / X-Ray interpretation. Able to prioritise rapid decision making under pressure and seamless teamwork in resource-variable environments.
Coronary Care Unit (CCU) & Critical Cardiac Management (ACHS-accredited, ACSQHC Standards):
Acute management of high-risk cardiac patients (STEMI/NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, arrhythmias), and post-cardiac arrest care. Perform advanced hemodynamic monitoring: Swan-Ganz catheter, echocardiography-guided resuscitation, lead rapid response, and emergency pacing/defibrillation in deteriorating patients.
Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory (ACHS-accredited, ACSQHC Standards):
Assisted diagnostic and interventional procedures: (primary/rescue PCI, complex bifurcation - CTO interventions/DCB), structural heart procedures (ASD device closure, PTMC). Experienced in device implantation (pacemakers, ICDs, CRT) and electrophysiology studies (EPS).
Cardiology Ward (General & Acute Cardiology) (ACHS-accredited, ACSQHC Standards):
Manage chronic and acute cardiology patients. Lead pre- and post-procedural care for patients undergoing cardiac interventions. Supervise stress testing (exercise/pharmacologic) and Holter/ambulatory ECG analysis.
