CAREER PROGRESSION, Being employed for more than 35 years in various sectors such as finance, pharmaceutical, heavy commercial vehicles, tractors & agricultural machinery , construction machinery and consumer electronics, in the year 2018 I ventured in to entrepreneurship

  • From 2018 September to date I have been working as an entrepreneur in the field of surgical device marketing covering direct marketing , liaising with the medical profession and decision making units of government and private sector and government tenders.The product portfolio consists of Novatech Talc and stents from Germany, Lisa urology Lasers from Germany, Omniguide electromagnetic machines and Scottecare halter monitoring equipment from USA.
  • Managed daily operations by overseeing financials, key performance indicators and employee performance.
  • Strategised long-term business needs, driving customer feedback to deliver ongoing process improvements.
  • Developed strategic partnerships to expand client base.
  • Met and exceeded all sales KPIs, targets and quotas.
  • Negotiated with suppliers to reduce costs and achieve stable supply chains.

  • Was recruited as the Manager of the Surgical division and subsequently promoted to Head of Surgical & Orthopeadic division and then to General Manager
  • The product portfolio consisted of Biolitec Laser from Germany, Thompson retractor systems from USA, EDAP ESWL machines from France, Vivostat fibrin glue and PRF from Denmark, Novatech Streitalc and bronchial stents from France, Jotec Vascular grafts and Reda instruments from Germany
  • The highest revenue generators were Biolitec laser machine and laser fibers
  • It became the highest selling laser machine in Sri Lanka and varicose vein laser surgery became one of the most popular surgeries among Vascular and general surgeons
  • Under my leadership, the surgical division was the highest revenue generator and developed the turnover from Rupees Thirty Million to Rupees One Hundred and Eighty Million during my tenure
  • Furthermore, the above products were promoted in the government sector through creation of demand and conversion of same to tenders where we won a substantial amount of tenders
  • My job profile was not limited to promotion of the said products
  • It was enhanced in to logistics and general administration
  • The marketing team comprised of six members and the logistics & administration team comprised of thirteen members, with 1 manager and 2 managers in each team respectively
  • During my tenure I was responsible in organizing many activities such as monthly general meetings, company annual conferences in Sri Lanka and abroad, on-the-job training for marketing and back office staff
  • Foreign exposure included participation in the European Association of Urology conference in London and in Copenhagen for two years, Medica exhibition in Germany and Arab Health exhibition in Dubai.

  • I was able to secure tenders for Coloplast and Novo Seven in the government sector
  • Further, I was able to make Coloplast Ostomy care products the most preferred product in the field
  • I walked the talk and initiated the formation of the Ostomy Association of Sri Lanka and Enterostoma Therapy Nurses Association of Sri Lanka
  • My team comprised of two product specialists and one marketing representative.
