  • I am currently serving as the, of Information Technology at the Sri Lanka
  • Tea Board, where I am responsible for overseeing the IT and Statistics unit and developing strategies to achieve the organization's goals and objectives
  • In this role, I have been tasked with identifying key components of the organizational processes and introducing IT solutions to increase efficiency and productivity
  • Additionally, I oversee the Statistical division to offer predictive and prospective insights and reports to the board upon request
  • As the CIO for the organization, I am also responsible for identifying new trends in data relating to the Tea Industry
  • One of my key ongoing projects is the Tea Value Chain
  • Management Project, which is of national importance and involves integrating all stakeholders to establish a single platform that provides a common operating picture/MIS
  • From the inception/concept paper for getting approval from the cabinet, I have been involved in this project and have taken the lead in finalizing SRS, technical evaluation, and vendor selection
  • I am currently managing the project on behalf of the Sri Lanka Tea Board
  • In addition to this, I have provided leadership to revamp the existing Payroll and HR
  • Management system with novel technologies and set up cloud-based solutions
  • I have also successfully implemented and interconnected all regional inventory through the Inventory
  • Control System.

  • In my role as the co-chapter lead of the Sri Lankan chapter, I am entrusted with overseeing the successful delivery of AI/ML-based real-world projects and products to the US

  • Within this capacity, I manage the entire product lifecycle, ensuring timely completion in accordance with project timelines
  • This involves collaborating with volunteers throughout various stages, including defining problem statements, collecting and cleaning data, conducting feature engineering, building models (including training, testing, and evaluation), deploying models, and implementing monitoring systems
  • Throughout project durations, I facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions with industry experts, aimed at educating novice developers on the latest AI/ML concepts and technologies, thereby enhancing project quality and participant expertise
  • Additionally, I organize regular meetings with team leads to synchronize MLOps lifecycles with project timelines, ensuring seamless integration and efficient operations
  • Central to my responsibilities is the motivation, encouragement, and guidance of volunteer members, fostering a collaborative environment that drives project delivery while aligning with the company's vision
  • Beyond my primary role, I actively contribute as a volunteer member to projects organized by other chapters in various countries, leveraging my expertise as a Senior ML Engineer to support broader initiatives within the Omdena community.

    Instrumental in Obtaining www.ceylontea.com domain after 31 years

    The domain name was previously owned by a Korean Company called Lotte.Inc which is the 4th largest company in South Korea since 1988. Through effective discussions and negotiations with Diplomats & Lotte management, I have managed to obtain the ceylontea.com domain in 2017

    free of charge to the Sri Lanka tea Board.
