The World Bank-assisted Water Supply and Sanitation Improvement Project (WaSSIP) is designed to increase access to piped water services and improve sanitation that will directly benefit many people with safe piped water supply covering urban, rural, and estate areas. Further, the augmentation of some existing Rural Water Supply Systems will improve service delivery in the proposed project areas.

Identified the potential environmental safeguard issues in accordance with the Environment Management Assessment Framework (EMAF).
• Assisted, drafted, and submitted Environment Screening Reports (ESRs) and Environment Management Plans (EMPs) for the proposed/identified Water Supply Schemes & Septage Treatment Plants
• Supported and coordinated with the PMU in environmental-related activities and monitoring assessments such as progress and mid-term reviews.
• Initiated and coordinated with the Project Partner Agencies (PAAs) to prepare the Water Safety Plans.

Handled accountability for ensuring the implementation of the Environment Management Plan on the construction site.
• Maintained up-to-date records on actions taken by the Contractor concerning the implementation of EMP recommendations
• Timely submission of progress reports for implementing the environmental safeguards, information, and data to the Project Management Unit (PMU) through the District Support Unit

Served as the primary focal point of contact for assistance with all environmental issues during the pre-construction and construction phases
• Investigated and reviewed the environmental-related complaints and implemented the appropriate corrective actions to arrest or mitigate the cause of the complaint.
