Working as a Biology teacher

  • set high standards for the students to have a sense of achievement at the end of a term
  • Teaching the whole class including the lethargic, weak and excellent students

Actions taken to upgrade the performance of weak students

· Conducted the intervention programme at weekly intervals.

· Marked past papers done by numerous students to advice on how to improve their performances.

New initiatives introduced for teaching

· frequently look through Edexcel mark schemes and examiner's reports to see what points are needed for the students to score maximum marks and incorporate them into my model answers which are shared with students via GC when I give feedback.

· Also, frequent tests are held, e.g. once a week for AS and A2, to check to what extent students have grasped the content taught in class.

· I found videos to enhance understanding of the practical work and done past paper questions on those so that, students don't miss out on not doing the practical. Those videos have been uploaded to GC.

· I use ERL in lessons to stimulate further reading by students.
