Responsibilities

Operation in Accounts Department and Management Reporting

Day to day operations in the department such as checking customer invoicing with contracts, ensuring timely payments to suppliers etc., and preparation of management reports such as finance reports, variance reports etc.

Capital Investments and Fund ManagementReview and monitor all CAPEX approval requests and review actual spending against the approved budgets and cost tracking related to capital projects. Look into the funding mechanism and amounts retained at business units and cash reserves build up by operations. Optimize the cash position in an environment of tight control and help business units to maintain the optimum level of working capital. Ensure cash flow forecasts being prepared and planned for major commitments such as debt repayments, statutory payments, profit commitment to the corporate and any ongoing capital projects.

Financial and Management Accounting

Preparing financial statements and maintaining all accounting and financial requirements of the company including consolidation financial statement of the parent company. Ensures management reporting is timely and accurate. Assist in timely completion of both internal and external audits and ensure findings are promptly rectified.

Internal controls, legal compliance and Tax planning

Review and further strengthen the system of internal controls to provide an effective and efficient control environment. Monitor changes in a legal and statutory context and assist in the business unit to ensure compliances. Effective tax planning and compliance with the prevailing tax laws.

Staff Management and Development

Ensuring the best person in each job in an environment of continuous development by assisting business unit to recruit and retain the best people for the job and make use of succession planning to develop and replace individuals effectively.

Information Technology

Optimize the use of information technology across the department to improve efficiency and all information requirements. Ensure data protection and sustainability.

Business support

Assisted in heading the finance function of Resort Hotels of John Keells Hotels PLC in the Maldives.

Fund Management & Treasury planning

Assisted in planning short term and long term funding requirements to ensure a smooth operation, acquisitions refurbishments of hotels and debt repayments.

Financial reporting & Management accounting & Internal controls

Assisted in ensured the timely finalization of year end statutory audits, filling of annual reports and completion of annual general meetings. Monitored adherence to International Accounting, Financial Reporting standards, statutory laws and regulations. Provided guidance each hotel to in preparing annual plans, reforecast and monthly latest estimates. Submission of monthly, weekly cash flow forecasts to head office as per group deadlines. Assisted in maintaining effective internal control systems in financial and operational functions and brought number of internal audit issues almost to a minimal.

Tax management

Ensured timely submission of tax reports and related payments to Inland Revenue Department of Maldives. Assisted in handling capital expenditure projects and corporate secretarial work.
